The 2010 HR Directors Survey raises a vital question...
The 2010 HR Directors Key Challenges Survey placed employee engagement as the No. 1 issue (see side bar). Why is that? Because customer satisfaction and business performance depend on it, and we are in the midst of a
major engagement crisis
The recession has led many employers to make decisions which have reduced confidence and trust - engagement levels are now at an all-time low. The latest Gallup survey indicates that less than a quarter of employees are fully engaged and more than a quarter feel positively disengaged.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development reported (Jan 2010) that job satisfaction is down 27% this year, with concerns over career security and stress said to be main causes.
You no doubt want to be seen as an employer of choice and your people to be fully engaged and, actually, so do they! Corrective action starts with understanding current reality - how would you answer this vital question:
"What are the key drivers influencing
employee engagement today?"
